The WCA Hospital Auxiliary is made up of more than 200 men and women who are dedicated to helping WCA Hospital fulfill its mission. For information about how you can serve on the Auxiliary, contact the WCA Hospital Volunteer Office at 664-8236.

Patient comfort is at the heart of many Auxiliary projects. Their generosity is boundless. They volunteer for community projects as well as meeting the special needs of our patients.

Our Auxiliary has a way of putting the fun into fundraising. Through events such as A Taste of Mardi Gras, Gift Shop sales, Persian Rug Sale, book sales, candy sales, casual clothing and uniform sales, jewelry sales, the Make Believe Tea and the annual Holiday Gift Sale, they surpass their goals year after year and have successfully raised thousands of dollars that directly benefit the hospital and the community we live in.

WCA Hospital Auxiliary Makes $35,000 Gift Toward New Emergency Department

Jamestown, New York (Thursday, August 4, 2011)—The WCA Hospital Auxiliary presented Betsy T. Wright, WCA Hospital President/CEO, with a $35,000 check. This is the third annual installment toward the Auxiliary’s five-year, $176,000 pledge to support WCA’s capital campaign.  To date, the Auxiliary has already given a total of $130,000 to construct and equip two, private patient treatment rooms within the new Emergency Department.

“I am so thankful to the Auxiliary for its commitment to WCA Hospital,” says Betsy Wright. “These individuals are exceptional volunteers who fundraise and engineer their talents to make every auxiliary event a success. Together, we look forward to the opening of the new front door of health care in our community when construction is completed for our 21st century Emergency Department.”

This $35,000 gift represents the proceeds from several fundraising activities conducted by the WCA Hospital Auxiliary, including the operation of the hospital’s gift shop. This gift also includes a grant from the W.C.A. Foundation, Inc. through the Hoag Family Fund, an endowment fund which annually supports WCA Hospital through the Auxiliary.

“In 2009, the Auxiliary made a three-year, $106,000 pledge to support the capital campaign,” explains Mary Phaneuf, Treasurer. “In 2011, thanks to the dedication of our Auxiliary board members and the generosity of the W.C.A. Foundation, we exceeded that goal. So, we extended our pledge to five years with the expectation of exceeding our new $176,000 goal.”

The WCA Hospital Auxiliary is a dedicated group of individuals which raises funds to support the mission, growth and development of WCA Hospital. The Auxiliary, which consists of 130 members, provides a way for anyone in the community who has been served by WCA an opportunity to give back in support of our community hospital.

WCA Hospital’s 21st Century Emergency Department, located where the hospital’s former South Building once stood, is now under full construction. It will minimize patient treatment times, decrease throughput and admission times, improve efficiency and collaboration, enhance physician recruitment efforts, and meet the present day and the increasing future emergency care demands of the Chautauqua Region. With great advances in space and privacy, WCA Hospital’s new 18,000 square foot Emergency Department will dramatically improve the overall patient experience.
