Dialysis Program

Betsy T. Wright, WCA President/CEODear Staff, Patients, Families and Friends of WCA,

As the implementation of health care reform progresses alongside declining reimbursement rates in acute care hospital settings, it is more important than ever for hospitals to work collaboratively with healthcare partners to optimize patient outcomes while maintaining high-quality access to care including those affected by chronic kidney disease.

WCA Hospital is pleased to collaborate with DaVita, a leading provider of kidney care in the United States, as we transition our dialysis program to DaVita.

WCA Hospital chose DaVita because of its expertise in dialysis care and superior clinical outcomes. DaVita strives to improve patients’ quality of life by innovating clinical care and by offering integrated treatment plans, personalized care teams and convenient health-management services. As of December 31, 2011, DaVita operated or provided administrative services at 1,809 dialysis facilities in the United States, serving approximately 142,000 patients. DaVita surpasses national averages for clinical outcomes.

DaVita has expressed interest in sole responsibility for dialysis services at the WCA Hospital Dialysis Program. This will require New York State Department of Health approval through the Certificate of Need process. This approval process generally takes about twelve months. WCA Hospital supports the transition of responsibility from WCA Hospital to DaVita.

WCA Hospital will continue to be solely responsible for the daily operation of the WCA Hospital Dialysis Program. Patients will continue to receive high-quality care and compassion from their current physicians and staff at the same location at 207 Foote Avenue, on the 4th Floor.

Throughout our transition and into the future, our focus will be on treating our patients with the highest quality of care and patient safety. We truly appreciate your patience and support as we will continue to deliver outstanding dialysis services for those we are so privileged to serve.

If at any time during this transition process you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to your dialysis leadership team or feel free to contact our hospital representative at (716) 664-8271 so we can address your questions promptly. Thank you.

Sincerely,
Betsy T. Wright
