Jamestown Ironmen "Pink the Rink"
On Saturday, October 29th, 2011 and Friday, February 3rd, 2012 (7:05 p.m. face-off), in conjunction with LINKS Charity and WCA Hospital, the Jamestown Ironmen will host “PINK THE RINK” at the Jamestown Savings Bank Arena. To honor the courage of breast cancer patients, the Ironmen will wear custom-made hockey jerseys and encourage everyone in attendance to join them by wearing pink.
Starting on October 29th and continuing through February 3rd, the Jamestown Ironmen will conduct a Charity Auction featuring these game-worn jerseys, pink hockey sticks, and other pink items autographed by Ironmen players and coaches, as well as NAHL alumni and current Buffalo Sabres, including Ryan Miller, Nathan Gerbe, and Thomas Vanek.
Throughout the remainder of the Ironmen season, the Jamestown Savings Bank Arena will continue selling $1 pink tribute links to grow the LINKS Tribute Chain which is now draped around the ice rink. This chain was carried on by walkers during the inaugural LINKS Pink Walk on October 2nd in tribute to breast cancer patients.
In addition to auction proceeds generated by the two PINK THE RINK nights and the sale of the tribute links, for the remainder of the hockey season, $2 from the purchase of every Jamestown Ironmen ticket can also benefit LINKS Charity and local breast cancer care at WCA Hospital simply by saying “PINK”. Just stop by the Jamestown Savings Bank Arena, call (716) 484-2624, or visit www.JamestownArena.com and say or enter “PINK” when purchasing your tickets for any home game.

January 1st: "New Year's Day":
January 1st on the Julian calendar corresponds to January 14th on the Gregorian calendar and is the date that followers of some of the Eastern Orthodox churches celebrate the New Year. In Western Christianity, New Year’s Day is the 8th day of Christmas and marks the end of a period of remembrance for the previous years’ events and predictions for the coming months.
January 7th:
Many Orthodox Christians in the United States celebrate Christmas Day on or near January 7th. For some, this day is not about presents or the commercial customs of Christmas, it is a time to heal the soul and a time for peace and unity.
January 16th: “World Religion Day”:
Initiated in 1950 to address the need for religious unity. It is observed the third Sunday in January.
January 17th: “Blessing of the Animals”:
Conducted in remembrance of Anthony the Great, a third century Christian Saint. St. Anthony had a close connection with all animals and is universally recognized as a “patron of animals”.
