Lifeline allows for independence while assuring the individual and their caregiver that help is close at hand. This is not only true of elderly folks but anyone who may need assistance and may be at home alone. In the house or in the yard near by, Lifeline is close by, creating feelings of freedom and comfort in knowing a loved one is not alone.

When you need someone on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week - you need Lifeline.

WCA Introduces Watch With Personal Help Button

For over twenty years, WCA Hospital Lifeline has provided assistance to area seniors at the press of a button. To better serve the community, WCA  and the Lifeline team is excited to introduce a new medical alert option, the Philips Lifeline TempoT Watch - especially designed with seniors' needs in mind.

The TempoT Watch is an easy-to-read TimexR with a Lifeline button built-in. The button is easy to press, but not so easy that it is set off by accident. The watch can be worn in the bath or shower with no worries, as it is waterproof to 98 feet.

"Elders love the watch," said Patricia Truax, WCA Hospital's Lifeline Manager. "Traditional, cumbersome devices have paved to the way for more efficient and easier-to-use models.  Many seniors feel wearing the traditional help button reminded them of their aging and drew attention to their increasing vulnerability, but the new device is simple and no one even knows they are wearing a personal help button."

"I didn't want to have that chain hanging around my neck for the rest of my life," said Rose, an 85-year-old Lifeline subscriber who is very active in the community. "This is just like wearing a watch. It is a watch, but most importantly, it's my lifeline.  I never take it off. I'm not even thinking about Lifeline. My family is delighted that I have the service and the Tempo doesn't interfere with my life at all."

"I definitely prefer this option to the other two kinds of buttons I tried before," says William, a 50-year-old subscriber who recommends the watch to his friends.  "It's the best looking button and it's practical. I am more consistent in making sure I have this one on because it is my watch."   To learn more about the new Tempo Watch, contact the WCA Lifeline Service at 664-8410.
