Jamestown, New York (Monday, October 6, 2008)—James Cirbus, M.D., Cardiologist, and Kevin Saff, Jamestown Area Medical Associates (JAMA) Executive Director, show their on-going commitment to improving area healthcare and the fight against cancer by presenting a $1,500 donation to Betsy T. Wright, WCA Hospital President/CEO, to support the WCA Hospital Cancer Care Program.
“We extend our thanks to everyone at Jamestown Area Medical Associates for their charitable donation,” said Betsy T. Wright, WCA Hospital President/CEO. “A key to the growth and development of award-winning programs and services at WCA is our dedicated and committed community partners who support our mission to improve the well-being of the people we serve. We are very grateful to JAMA for their on-going pledge to excellence in cancer care services.”
The WCA Hospital Cancer Care Program provides state-of-the-art technology and advanced forms of cancer treatments, board certified physicians, Lymphedema Management Program, lifelong patient follow-up through the Cancer Registry, a new Patient Navigation Program, cancer care education and a Resource Library located at the Cancer Treatment Center. The program offers patients and their families with the answers they need about diagnosis, treatment, and recovery.
“As an employer in Southern Chautauqua County and Northwestern Pennsylvania, we are committed to supporting our local not-for-profit organizations, supporting many worthwhile programs,” said Kevin Saff, JAMA Executive Director. “WCA has made a significant impact in the lives of many people diagnosed with cancer and their family members. We are pleased to be able to provide funds that help WCA further its goal to provide leading-edge cancer care, close to home where our families, friends and neighbors reside.”
The WCA Cancer Care Program is the only comprehensive program in Chautauqua County to hold a prestigious three-year approval with commendation for its Cancer Care Program from the Commission on Cancer (COC) of the American College of Surgeons. The three-year approval with commendation is the result of the hospital’s commitment to integrating clinical excellence, programs and community outreach. WCA is one of only 1,350 programs across the country that has earned approval from the Commission on Cancer. In New York State, only one in four share this prestigious honor.
