Jamestown, New York (Friday, June 5, 2009) - In recognition of National Diary Month in June, Chautauqua County Dairy Princess, Lynette Chase, kicked off the event by presenting a basket of dairy products and baby items to newborn, Parker Gambino, the first baby born in June at WCA Hospital.
The dairy basket reminds new mothers and their families to consume proper servings of low-fat milk, cheese and yogurt every day.
"It's a tradition for the Dairy Princess to give baskets of baby items to the first babies born during June which is Dairy Month," said Lynette Chase of Sinclairville, Chautauqua's Dairy Princess. "I've been given a wonderful opportunity and it is great to give back to my community."
Lynette, who grew up on the family farm, is a freshman at Jamestown Community College on her way to earning a degree from Cornell before fulfilling her dream of one day operating her own dairy farm. As dairy princess, she is spending the next year helping to educate the public about the dairy industry.
