W.C.A. FOUNDATION AWARDS MESSINA SCHOLARSHIPS

Photo Release - Jamestown, New York (Tuesday, October 13, 2009)—W.C.A. Foundation, Inc., officials recently announced the 2009 Mary Lou Messina Scholarship award recipients, Patricia Denzel, WCA Hospital Unit Clerk; and Casey Smith, WCA Mental Health Program Assistant. Both scholarship recipients are currently enrolled in the Associate in Applied Science R. N. Nursing Program at Jamestown Community College. The scholarship is awarded in Memory of Mary Lou Messina who was an R.N. at WCA Hospital from 1979 – 2004. She worked in the Special Care Unit, Recovery Room, Pain Management, and Ambulatory Surgery Center. Mary Lou’s love for nursing was only outweighed by her love for her family and friends. She was very dedicated to the nursing profession and loved what she did. She loved taking care of people. She could set her patients at ease with her laugh and her smile. She had healing hands and a healing heart. The scholarship funds are applied toward the cost of books for a course(s) leading to a degree in Nursing.
