Jamestown, New York (Tuesday, January 29, 2008)—For a second time, three area physicians, on staff at WCA Hospital, have been named to the “100 Top Docs” list in Western New York by the Buffalo Spree Magazine (January 2008 Edition). Selected as Top Docs were Thomas Andrews, M.D. Obstetrician and Gynecologist; Virginia Campion, M.D., Pediatrician; and Daniel Glotzer, M.D., General and Vascular Surgeon.
The selected physicians are recognized experts in the fields of obstetrician and gynecology, pediatric care, and surgery. They are representatives of the more than 110 physicians on staff at WCA Hospital.
This is the third time Buffalo Spree has published a list of top doctors in Western New York. Every year, city/regional magazines throughout the United States provide these lists as an important service to their readers. Castle Connolly Medical Ltd. provides the list. The honored physicians were selected by their peers, based primarily for their excellence in patient care. Survey respondents were asked to nominate peer physicians to whom they would send members of their family.
“We congratulate these exceptional physicians for this special recognition,” said Betsy T. Wright, WCA Hospital President and CEO. “WCA Hospital has a rich history of serving the community’s health care needs and we are very fortunate to have this caliber of highly-trained, compassionate and dedicated physicians on our hospital’s medical staff.”
Castle Connolly Medical Ltd., a physician-led team of researchers, followed a rigorous screening process to select top doctors on both the national and regional levels. Using mail surveys, telephone surveys and electronic ballots, the research team asked board certified physicians and the medical leadership of leading hospitals to nominate highly skilled, exceptional doctors. Criteria developed by the Castle Connolly research team led to the final selection of those physicians most highly regarded by their peers in each specialty. The criteria used to determine physician eligibility for inclusion in the magazine: professional qualifications; education, residency, board certification, fellowships; professional reputation, hospital appointment, medical school faculty appointment, and experience. The physicians are grouped alphabetically by specialty and alphabetically within each specialty.
Thomas Andrews, M.D., a native of Erie, Pennsylvania, received his medical degree from Saint Louis University and trained at Harvard and the University of Rochester. He is a board-certified physician and fellow of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology. He has board-certification in Anesthesiology as well. His medical practice is located at Lane Women’s Health Group at 400 Foote Avenue in Jamestown, New York. Dr. Andrews resides in Jamestown with his wife, Linda and four children.
Virginia Campion, M.D., a native of Williamsville, New York, received her medical degree from State University of New York at Buffalo School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences in Buffalo, New York. She completed a pediatric residency at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland, and is board certified by the American Board of Pediatrics. Her medical practice is located at Jamestown Pediatric Associates located on 816 Fairmount Avenue, Jamestown, New York. Dr. Campion and her husband, Dr. James Campion, reside in Jamestown, with their 3 children.
