Jamestown, NY (Friday, October 7, 2016)Sunday (October 16th), a group of local bowlers will host the 8th annual Framed in Pink: Bowling Over Breast Cancer at the Jamestown Bowling Company. This charity event will support local breast cancer care at WCA Hospital and pay tribute to loved ones who have battled this deadly disease.

“I think this is a fantastic opportunity to raise awareness of breast cancer here in our community,” says Sue Lamb, event coordinator. “We all have a loved one who has been battled breast cancer. We are committed to honor those loved ones, promote good breast health, benefit local breast cancer care, and have a good time!”

WCA Hospital will host a basket raffle on October 14th from 12-4 pm showcasing the baskets that the community has donated for this great cause. If you can’t make the event, please join Framed in Pink Committee members on Friday to show your support!

This bowling event will begin with a sign-in and basket raffle at 12:00 noon, followed by bowling at 1:00 p.m. In addition, Framed in Pink is accepting donations for pink tribute frames that will be displayed in honor or in memory of loved ones who have battled breast cancer. Framed in Pink has raised over $15,000 which benefits local breast cancer care at WCA Hospital. Last year, the committee was able to purchase a stereotactic mammography chair that is used for breast biopsies in The Center for Imaging & Medical Arts at WCA. This piece of equipment is very important to WCA’s Radiologists in that they can now easily locate and target region of interest for biopsy.

The committee and WCA Management are currently working on researching another piece of equipment for Framed in Pink to purchase from this year’s event. They want to ensure the community will be able to share in the experience of what will be used, as they are the ones who are supporting the event.

WCA Cancer Care Program is one of the 25% of NY programs accredited by the Commission on Cancer of the American College of Surgeons. The program includes prevention education, screening, diagnostics, data collection and registry, and a holistic approach to Cancer Care.
