The Falconer Kiwanis Club recently reached out to their community by providing activity packets for young patients in the WCA Hospital Emergency and Adolescent Units.
Members of Kiwanis purchased and donated the bags, which were filled with stickers, puzzles, crayons, coloring books, and markers. "We wanted to make the young patients feel better during their hospital stay," said Phyllis Belin, local chapter president. "Our mission is to serve the children of the world and this is just one way we can make a difference right here in our own hometown."
"We were thrilled to receive the wonderful activity packages," said Mary Sue Pawlak, R.N., BSN, Nurse Manager, Adolescent Unit at WCA. "It is very heart-warming to see individuals take the initiative to lift the spirits of our patients. I am sure the children who receive these gifts will be very appreciative of the Kiwanis Club's generosity."
The Kiwanis family is an international organization of more than 600,000 adult and youth members in 79 nations. Each local club participates in hand-on community-service projects and donates to local groups and organizations. The organization's slogan is "Serving the Children of the World."
"We are a group of people who are committed to doing our part in serving children's needs and are always looking for individuals who want to help their community by volunteering their time," said Phyllis.
