Janet Anderson Named
WCA Volunteer of the Year!

One hundred and forty two volunteers were recently honored for their hours of service at the Annual WCA Hospital Volunteer Luncheon. Janet Anderson, long-time volunteer at WCA, received the 5 Star Volunteer Award for her extraordinary dedication and untiring service to the hospital.

The Luncheon included remarks from Betsy T. Wright, WCA Hospital President/CEO, Barbara Bumsted, Chair, WCA Board of Directors and Suzanne Sawyer, WCA Hospital Volunteer Coordinator. Evelyn Walzer, W.C.A. Auxiliary Treasurer, presented pins to volunteers in acknowledgement of their hours of service in 2006. Entertainment was provided by Skip Roberts, Emerald City Productions.

"It is my privilege to be here and stand before you today," said Betsy T. Wright, WCA Hospital President/CEO. "You are WCA. You impact every department you enter. You are a source of comfort to patients and family members. The quality of care that we provide is not just a result of our outstanding staff and physicians; it is the result of your unending willingness to sacrifice your time and energy, You are truly ambassadors for WCA and an asset to this community."

"It is always a pleasure to have the opportunity to recognize the wonderful volunteers who serve WCA Hospital," remarked Barbara Bumsted, WCA Hospital Chair, Board of Directors. "On behalf of the Board of Directors, I would like to thank all of you for the compassionate care and excellent staff support you give to our patients."

Bruce Easterling, William Warner and Robert Gray were recognized for the most hours served in 2006. Charlene Garcia, Catherine Banilla, and Elijah Kellom were recognized for the most student hours served. Hour guard pins were presented to the following volunteers: 100 hour guards: Patricia Bennett, Larry Bourne, Patricia Christo, Elvera Classon, Maria Jacobson, Theresa LaBarte, Russ Latona, Ron Littlejohn, Rodney Orleck, and Sam Pellerito. 200 hour guards: Patricia Berg, Eric Eckberg, Gail Hayes, Paul Lewis, Dian Moses, Chris Wight. 300 hour guards: William Baggiano, Jack Crate Soniya Deswandikar, Matt Farr, Steven Miller. 400 hour guard: Brian Adams. 500 hour guards: Carl Bane, Gordon Bloomberg, Mary Carpenter, Joan Erickson, Clarice Gates, Lois McCreary, Alberta Webster, Linda Johnson, Evelyn Walzer. 600 hour guards: Sandra K. Carlson, Martha Everhart, Betty Kohlbacher. 700 hour guards: Margaret Anderson, Virginia Crist, Margaret Fuchs, Janet Klenck, Robert Matson, Phyllis Newman, Carl Raineir, Carolyn Thomas. 800 hour guards: Shirley Caffoe, Betty Carlson, Phyllis Jenkins, Ingrid Kilburn, Ann Legters, Phyllis Sorensen. 900 hour guards: Bradley Jimerson, Glenda Lyon, Eve Pickett, Gloria Raymond. 1,000 hour guards: Barbara Jennings, Jeanne Johanson, William Rollinger, Laura Gutzmer, Judy Littlejohn. 1,500 hour guards: Kay Burch, Linnea Carlson, Robert Gray, Robert Herring, Helen Lindquist, Charles Norquist, Sam Sabino, Sara Vail. 2,000 hour guards: Cynthia Baker, Martha Love, Linda Rublee, Patricia Urso, Edie Boscarino, Denise Klizek, Mary Ann Pappalardo. 2,500 hour guards: Barbara Booth, Robert Scott, Sara Khan, Patricia Phillips. 3,000 hour guards: Evelyn Johnson, Sylvia Lucas, Joe Miraglia, Donna Simmons. 5,000 hour guards: Cecile Wilson. 6,000 hour guard: George Campbell. 6,500 hour guard: Phyllis Ramsey. 7,500 hour guard: Lou Baglia. 8,500 hour guard: Barney Edson, Marian Hull. 9,000 hour guard: Bruce Easterling. 12,000 hour guard: Janet Anderson. 18,000 hour guard: William Warner.

Suzanne Sawyer reported 512 volunteers gave over 47,000 hours of service over the past year.
