Psychology Internship
- Talk to your internship advisor to see if you qualify for an internship.
- Read over the contents of the packet received from WCA Psychology Services.
- Call Kari Swanson at (716) 664-8667 to discuss times and dates for an interview.
- Send resume and/or other materials to WCA Psychology Services so they can be reviewed prior to the interview.
- Come to the interview.
- Make a decision regarding times and days of interning.
- Notify your advisor and WCA Psychology Services of your decision.
- Provide documentation of medical and insurance certification prior to starting internship.
- Copy of updated resume (needed by time of interview)
- Physical (needed prior to start of internship - must have been within the last year or can be done through WCA Occupational Health)
- Immunization records (needed prior to start of internship)
- Start and end dates for internship (needed prior to start of internship)
- Contract between College/University and WCA (needed prior to start of internship)
- Certification of insurance (blanket coverage - needed prior to start of internship).
NOTE: This is insurance that is typically carried by the University. However, some universities do require the intern to carry their own. Check with your University based intern advisor to clarify who carries the insurance. A certification that you have insurance coverage is needed for our records before the internship begins.
- Will increase knowledge of Psychology in an applied setting.
- Will explore career options in the field of Psychology.
- Will increase knowledge about assessment and/or treatment effectiveness in particular clinical areas.
- Will increase knowledge about assessment tools to measure psychological functioning.
- Will increase knowledge and gain direct experience with clinical patients through administering written psychological tests to patients.
- To attend various team meetings.
- To read literature on psychological assessments.
- To help in administration and scoring of assessments.
- To create a resource of research materials on an identified clinical topic.
- To become familiar with clinical services offered within the hospital setting.
- To assist in implementation of behavior plans.
