Robotic Surgery

UPMC Chautauqua offers minimally invasive robotic surgery with the da Vinci Xi® Surgical System. The da Vinci robot translates a surgeon’s hand movements into smaller, more precise movements.

During the procedure, the surgeon:

  • Inserts tiny surgical tools through a small cut.
  • Uses a high-powered camera to move the robot's arms.
  • Views the movements through a magnified 3D high-def screen.

Since surgeons only need to make small cuts, the benefits of robotic surgery may include less pain and scarring, shorter hospital stays, and a faster return to normal activity.
