On December 4, 2009, the largest campaign in WCA Hospital’s history took a major step forward with the appointment of Dr. Lillian Vitanza Ney as the Chair of the Sharing the Gift of Health campaign. Along with Dr. Ney, WCA introduced the teams of community leaders who will head their $16.5 M capital campaign to construct and equip the hospital’s new Emergency Department, and $10 M to build endowment for the future of our community hospital.

With construction of the new Emergency Department slated to begin in late 2010, WCA Hospital expects to gain valuable space and privacy, and overall improvement in patient experiences. The new Emergency Department is designed to support additional floors above as WCA positions itself to complete overall campus consolidation in the years to come.

To date, WCA has now secured $11.5 M toward the campaign’s $16.5 M capital goal for the construction of the new Emergency Department. The campaign is accepting gifts and pledges payable through 2013.

The 125th anniversary of WCA Hospital and the construction of OUR new EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT provide an historic opportunity. There is no better way to honor our time-honored commitment to quality, compassion, and to OUR COMMUNITY than to lay the cornerstone for the next era of healthcare in Jamestown.

OUR EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT is critical to our organization and central to the services we provide. Originally constructed in the 1970’s, undeniably it is in need or replacement. Having an Emergency Department capable of meeting today’s, as well as tomorrow’s, health care needs is fundamental to the health and safety of OUR COMMUNITY.

We hope you see that investing in WCA Hospital, both in the short and long term, is an investment in OUR COMMUNITY for generations to come. I appeal to you to join us in these transformational campaigns.

Thank you for sharing the gift of health!
