Evaluation – Treatment – Follow-up Care - Prevention – Education
Evaluation: Every person and every wound are unique. We conduct a thorough medical history and an extensive examination of the wound, which may include special tests such as x-rays, MRI’s, CT Scans, and non-invasive vascular studies to help create an individualized care plan.
Prevention and Education: We focus on preventing a wound from re-curring, home care, medications, and proper footware. A healthy lifestyle is important. We offer nutrition counseling, tobacco cessation, exercise options and management for chronic illnesses like diabetes, cancer and poor circulation, as well as, preventing infection and immobility.
Treatment: Plans are designed to relieve pain, if present and speed healing. Each plan is individualized based on a person’s health and well-being and on his or her ability to care for the wound. A plan may include one or several of these options: surgery, antibiotics to treat infection, medications to prevent clotting, topical therapies, compression garments, prosthetics or orthotics to enhance mobility and quality of life.
Follow-up care: There is an extensive evaluation at each follow up visit to track the healing progress of the wound. Patients are referred to other healthcare professionals as needed and as part of their specialized treatment plan.
A physician referral is not necessary, unless your insurance plan requests one. You may need to ask your individual insurance carrier if these services are covered and/or if you need a referral from your primary care provider.
