Bruce Easterling Named 2009 Volunteer of the Year

Jamestown, New York (Thursday, April 23, 2009)—One hundred and fifty-six volunteers were recently honored for their hours of service at the annual WCA Hospital 2009 Volunteer Recognition and Awards Luncheon.  Mr. Bruce Easterling was named Volunteer of the Year, receiving the 5 Star Volunteer Award.  Recognized for demonstrating extraordinary service and dedication while exemplifying the qualities reflected in the WCA Hospital’s mission, Bruce has served as a volunteer at WCA Hospital since 1994.  Mr. Easterling was also honored during the luncheon as top hours-honoree, donating 1,091 hours of service last year.

Volunteer Opportunities

Opportunities occur in departments and services throughout WCA Hospital. Typical volunteer responsibilities include:

  • Transporting patients
  • Gift Shop cashier
  • Providing information to visitors
  • Delivering flowers to patient rooms
  • Visiting patients
  • Performing clerical duties
  • Assisting patients' families and visitors
  • Special event assistance
  • Snack Shop cashier / Wait staff
  • Answering telephones
  • Assisting with mailings
    ...and many other opportunities as available
